YAS CALL FOR YOUTHS PARTICIPATION IN POLITICS
Program coordinator for Human Rights and Society Strengthening for Youth and Society (YAS) Mwandida Theu, has urged youths in Dowa district to step up and take leadership positions ahead of the 2025 tripartite elections.
The plea was made Thursday during an interface meeting organized by YAS at Manac Conference Center in Dowa.
Theu indicated that currently, only one percent of youths at the national level participate in politics hence the need for them to participate in the forthcoming tripartite elections.
“I can assure young people in Dowa that through inclusive democracy academy, we will provide resources to those youth that will show interest to participate in politics” She explained.
On his part, the Chairperson for Dowa Youth Network, Sankhulani Mbanga commended YAS for empowering youths with knowledge, citing that this will help them make sound decisions.
However, Mbanga asked his fellow youths to utilize the opportunity since YAS assured them that they would provide support for those who showed interest in participating in politics.
Youth and Society is conducting training for youths to have knowledge of the Malawi Electoral Acts that have been amended ahead of the September 2025 tripartite elections In 10 districts Dowa inclusive, with funding from UNDP.
