UTM ELECTIVE INDABA SCHEDULED FOR THIS NOVEMBER
As September 16, 2025, draws close, political parties in the country have embarked on a journey of renewing the mandate of their executive committees with the UTM party scheduling the 17th November as a day of their convention at a venue that will be announced later.
The spokesperson for the party Felix Njawala confirmed the development on Tuesday during a press briefing.
Njawala urged party members to refrain from inciting violence or verbally attacking fellow competitors during the campaign period leading to the party’s convention.
”We have to learn from other parties’ mistakes during their convention with the aim of not repeating the same mistakes in our party” Njawala explains.
He however encouraged women and youths to step up and participate in the convention.
On her part, Patricia Kaliati who is the secretary general called upon party members not to attend other party’s rallies in UTM regalia.
Since the demise of the party’s president Saulos Chilima in a plane crash on 10th June 2024, the party has been facing leadership wrangles.
