KASALIKA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ORGANISATION ENVISIONS A ZERO TB SOCIETY
Kasalika Community Organization Executive Director Gift Mwale has urged people in Dowa district to go for TB testing and get treated if they are found positive.
Mwale made the plea on the sidelines of a Mass sensitization campaign which Kasalika Community Development Organization conducted with funding from Global Fund through Manaso, Fact, and Christian Aid on Thursday on the danger of late access to medical care when suffering from Tuberculosis in Dowa district.
The TB Mass sensitization campaign conducted at Chuzu, ChiBwata, and Dzaleka refugee camp was facilitated by medical practitioners from Dowa District Hospital and Dzaleka health center.
Mwale said they embarked on the sensitization exercise as a measure to inform people about the signs and symptoms of TB and to urge more people to go for TB testing and get treated if found positive.
“The campaign which is being done in collaboration with Manaso, Fact, and Action aid, is aimed at raising awareness on the signs and symptoms of TB as well as providing the right information about the disease to the people of Dowa,” said Mwale.
Mwale said the organization is working towards achieving the government’s sustainable development goal which is to have a TB-free country by 2030 and this can be fulfilled if citizens have the right information about the disease.
He said their organization will hold more such campaigns on TB Mass sensitization in the district so that the message about the disease reaches out to more people.
In their remarks group village head Nkholo from Chuzu and group village head Chafunyala from Chibwata applauded Kasalika for the message saying people from the communities now know more about the disease and that the campaign has been an eye-opener to them.
Kasalika Community Development Organization is working with 17 health facilities in the district of Dowa in the fight against tuberculosis.
