GOVERNMENT APPLAUDS NCA/DCA FOR ITS FINANCIAL SUPPORT IN COMBATING GBV AND INEQUALITIES

The government through the Ministry of Gender, community and Social Welfare has applauded Norwegian church aid and Dan church aid for infinite financial support in helping curb GBV and inequalities happening in different areas of Dowa district.
This was made known on Friday by the minister responsible for gender Jean sendeza during the national dissemination conference held at Dowa Boma ground.
Sendeza says the support from NCA/DCA is commendable as it will help in the sustainability of projects that are initiated by international NGOs working with local organizations in Malawi.
“We are promoting localization agenda so that when the donors are gone local NGOs should take over everything that was being implemented by the international NGO by continuing the work,” said Sendeza.
Sendeza also added that the government is impressed with its cooperating partners as they are helping in every aspect of life, especially in the promotion of women’s rights evidenced by giving women opportunities to hold high positions in government.
“As you know the president is at the forefront in promoting women empowerment, his cabinet has over 40 percent women and more than 28 percent of principal secretaries in different government departments are women proving that the president is a champion for the he for she program,” she said.
However, Sendeza lamented a lack of coordination among stakeholders saying they are not working together in eliminating GBV as some of the stakeholders do not receive proper support, she has since asked the country to work together to combat the vice.

Making his speech at the ceremony Stefan Jansen, the country director of NCA/DCA says the organization together with the implementing partners is committed to supporting the government of Malawi in empowering women and girls and promoting equality,
” we are devoted to finding innovative ways to tackle food insecurity and our efforts are continuously growing.” Said Jansen
Jansen also highlighted that NCA/DCA recognizes that there is still a long way to go in combating gender-based violence, fighting inequalities, and promoting climate-smart economic empowerment across the country.
“However, we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all NCA/DCA partners on the successful implementation of all projects in the country” said Jansen
The national dissemination conference was organized by Luntha Television in collaboration with Malawi Girls Guide Association with financial aid from NCA/DCA under the theme “equal access to justice and economic empowerment for increased social inclusion and resilience”
Currently, NCA/DCA is funding different projects for organizations such as Luntha Television, the catholic commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP), Malawi Human Rights Resource Center (MHRCC) Malawi Economic Justice Network (MEJN)women’s Legal Resource Center, evangelical association of Malawi, assemblies of God care, Malawi girls guide association, trustees of agricultural promotion program, total land care, Anglican council in Malawi and find your feet (FTF)
