DOWA DHO IN CHOLERA SCARE

Dowa District Hospital spokesperson, Davie Nuka says the hospital is liaising with the Ministry of Health to consider Dowa district with cholera vaccine saying that the district is at risk of the disease.
“We haven’t been selected as one of the districts to administer the cholera vaccine campaign, but we are still liaising with the authorities to consider us”. Nuka said.
Nuka further commended people in the district for their commitment to exercising prevention measures saying no case of cholera has been identified currently.
“At the moment we haven’t identified any cholera cases within the district but as an office, we are undertaking different interventions to make sure that we prevent cholera outbreaks within the district. “He added.
However, Nuka stressed a need not to relent but to continue observing cholera preventive measures to contain the disease.
“And we are urging all people in the district to follow all preventive measures to prevent cholera. “Said Nuka.
Yetu FM understands that districts such as Lilongwe, Nsanje, Zomba, and Karonga have been affected by cholera.
Meanwhile, nine people are reported to have the disease while twelve others are suspected to have cholera across the country.
