DOWA COUNCIL CHAIR ASKS ANGRY UBR ENUMERATORS TO EXERCISE PATIENCE

Dowa District Council Chairperson Mayamiko Kambewa has appealed to enumerators who worked under the Dowa District Council from July 9 to August 30 this year to exercise patience as the District Council is working on their arrears.
This comes after enumerators in the district wrote a letter to the District Council demanding their Arrears ranging from k210, 000 to k 300,000, which they worked for in the month of July and August this year.
Kambewa said the government delayed paying the enumerators’ arrears as there were some technical problems between the treasury and the Reserve Bank of Malawi when conducting the transactions.
“As the council, we have been asking the government on the issue of arrears of these enumerators and we were told that there were some technical issues with the Reserve Bank but they have worked on that,” said Kambewa.
In the letter dated October 1, 2023, the enumerators expressed their concern over the delay by the council in paying them, saying that up to now there is no update pertaining to the payment of the remaining money which ranges from k210, 000 to K300 000.
These enumerators worked under the Dowa District Council for a period of 50 days in the months of July and August 2023.
Kambewa further asked for patience as the council is working on giving them their arrears.
‘’ We know it is painful but as the council we are asking for some patience and we have been communicated by the treasury that soon they will credit our account with the money for these enumerators “He said
He further added that the survey was under Government funds but coordinated by the District Council, hence calling for patience as they are working on the matter.
‘’ As the council we are also waiting for the Government because they are the ones who funded this survey, they just need to give us some time to work on it,” said Kambewa
