CRACKS EMERGE IN IPTE 14 PRESSURE GROUP

Unemployed Initial Professional Teacher Education -IPTE 14 teacher’s spokesperson Blessings Mgundadzuwa has announced his resignation from the position alleging that the group’s chairperson is operating unprofessionally.
In September, the teachers wrote President Lazarus Chakwera through the Ministry of education asking for mass recruitment of teachers.
Speaking in an interview with YETU Community Radio, Blessings Mgundadzuwa said the chairperson Wonderful Gama, issued public statements expressing concerns of the teachers without consulting other leaders.
“For instance, our chairperson did not consult me when he was on behalf of the group endorsing demonstrations of nurses who are also pushing for mass recruitment of nurses,” said Mgundadzuwa.
He said there is no need for the grouping to continue protesting when the government through the Ministry of Education is addressing issues raised in their indoor meeting.
“As I am talking, the ministry has started recruiting teachers after we threatened to hold demonstrations, so why should we continue protesting?” added Mgundadzuwa.
Commenting on the allegations, IPTE 14 Chairperson Wonderful Gama has acknowledged occurrences of the developments citing Blessings Mgundadzuwa was not consulted because he is usually offline.
“Yes it is true but Mr Mgundadzuwa should be blamed for rushing to the media and we have accepted his resignation,” said Gama.
He has however stressed that they will not down their tools in lobbying for teacher’s mass recruitment.
Recently, Ministry of Education spokesperson Mphatso Nkuonera disclosed that inadequate resources are contributing to the problem at hand despite the efforts to meet the 1 to 60 teacher-pupil ratio.
