CHAKWERA TO APPEAL TO PRIVATE INVESTORS AT THE AFRICA- ARAB SUMMIT
Minister of Information and Digitalization Moses Kumkuyu has announced that President Lazarus Chakwera is to attend the Africa Arab summit and Intra Africa trade fair in Saudi Arabia and Egypt respectively.
According to Kumkuyu, Chakwera will be accompanied by four ministers and the public and private business sectors.
Minister of Information and Digitalization Moses Kumkuyu said while in Saudi Arabia, President Lazarus Chakwera will attend the Africa Arab summit and hold engagements with other world leaders and investors on 10 and 11 November 2023
Kumkuyu said the summit presents the country with a chance to deliberate on political, economic, and social issues.
“Deliberations will focus on agriculture development, food security, private sector engagements, energy, infrastructure, and tourism among others,” Kumkuyu said
“The summit compliments towards the fulfillment of Malawi Vision 2063 under implementation plan 1 which among others centers on Agriculture productivity” The Minister added
While in Saudi Arabia, Kumkuyu said the head of state will witness the signing of a loan agreement on the financing of the construction of the Mangochi-Makanjira road project.
After taking his engagements in Saudi Arabia, President Chakwera will on the 13 November 2023 attend the Intra-Africa Trade fair in Egypt.
In Egypt, Chakwera and his delegation are tasked to attract foreign investors by holding business talks in areas of Agriculture-agro- processing Clothing and textile, Construction and infrastructure, education, and energy among others.
“Some private sector institutions such as NBS, Illovo, Standard Bank, and GIZ among others, have provided financial assistance to the trip,” Kumkuyu said
President Chakwera through the minister has made it clear that he will participate in meetings that require his presence and he will delegate where necessary.
The four ministers joining President Chakwera on the trip are Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Finance, trade, and Industry and Transport respectively.
From the private sector, the Chakwera is joined by Standard Bank. Mzuzu Coffee Association, Press Cooperation. H and Adam agro-dealers and Central Region Water Board.
