16-Year-Old Takes His Own Life After Quarrel with Grandmother in Mangochi
A 16-year-old, Ibrahim Jumbe has tragically taken his own life by hanging himself in his bedroom following a quarrel with his grandmother in Mangochi.
According to Mangochi police spokesperson, Amina Tepani Daudi the incident occurred on the evening of July 4, 2023.
Daudi says reports indicates that Jumbe had engaged in a heated argument with his grandmother after he was admonished for insulting his stepsister by stating that her father was poor.
“Despite his grandmother’s instructions to retract the statement, Jumbe refused and threatened to leave the house, then packed his belongings and left them in the sitting room corner before his grandmother and sister departed for errands”, Daudi explains.
She said upon their return a few hours later, Jumbe’s sister made the shocking discovery of him hanging unconscious from the bedroom’s roof.
However, he was rushed to Makanjira Health Centre where he was pronounced dead upon arrival due to strangulation.
He hailed from Kalinga Village,Traditional Authority Makanjira in Mangochi District.
